Upgrading your car radio or buying a new car, check the radio will work?

DAB logoReplace your radio now and you could soon be facing a costly technical upgrade – because your radios will soon be obsolete.

Did you know that if you fit a traditional FM radios it will be useless when the Government turns off the analogue signal and switches over to digital in just five years’ time?

UK Government Ministers announced earlier this month that FM signals would be switched off by the end of 2015 as digital radio becomes the standard format in Britain. Analogue signals (FM) will no longer be transmitted.

Plus ALL radio listeners will experience months of disruption as transmitters are adapted to the new signal.

The process will lead to poor reception on both analogue and digital and, in some cases, complete shutdown for up to a day.

A massive £700million engineering project is being rolled out across the UK between now and Christmas.

The end in sight for Uninsured Drivers?

Is your car at risk of being crushed? The Mail On Sunday had a very interesting article about how the cost of accidents and damage caused by motorists with no insurance has fallen this year, reflecting a breakthrough in the fight against uninsured driving.

But honest motorists will still pay £407million via a levy on their car insurance premiums this year to fund the Motor Insurers' Bureau, the central body that compensates for accidents caused by uninsured or untraced drivers.

The success of the Motor Insurance Database, which allows police to make an instant check on whether a car has insurance has had an effect. This enables police to target uninsured drivers using automatic number plate recognition cameras to pull over suspicious vehicles.
